Hello guys and happy mother’s day moms! Hope everyone has been having an awesome day. Usually I bake something for my mom every Mother’s Day, but this year I was having some trouble figuring out what this year’s desert would be. I mean, i couldve chosen from millions of things! I decided to use my noggin and think about my mom- she loves chocolate! So what better way to express this flavor then a brownie, but wait, its a pie! In the end i made a chocolate pie with homemade caramel sauce (il be giving that recipe in a few days or so) and topped it off with a side of ice cream. My mom said she couldnt stop eating it! Enioy the recipe!
Chocolate Pie Recipe
1/2 cup (120g) butter
3 oz. of unsweetend chocolate, cut up
1 prepared Pie Crust (9 inches or 23cm) (il have the recipe for the chocolate crumble pie crust I used soon)
3 lightly beaten eggs
1-1/2 cups (300g) granulated sugar
1/2 cup (60g) all purpose flour
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. salt
1 cup (150g) of chopped nuts (optional)
Desired topping: Caramel sauce, hot fudge sauce, ice cream etc.
In a small saucepan cook and stir butter and chocolate over low heat until melted. Remove from the heat; cool for 20 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius).
Fit the dough into the pie plate (I pressed mine into my pie plate because it was a crumble crust). Make sure the pie crust is prepared (baked if the directions say to before adding the filling).
In a medium sized bowl combine the eggs, sugar, flour, vanilla and salt. Stir in the chocolate mixture and nuts if you are using them. Pour the batter into the pie plate.
Bake for 45-55 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. Coll your pie and serve with the desired topping(s).
Substitute vegan butter for the butter
Subsitiute 1-1/2 mashed bananas or 12 tbs. of yogurt for the eggs.
